    F.E.A.R. Project

    What is the F.E.A.R. Project?

Focusing on Ever Active Resistance to oppression is an inclusive weekly dialogue and interactive experience, working to understand our intersecting identities and experiences. We focus on eradicating resistance to confronting oppression, identity bias, -isms, and exclusion. We are here to support each other in this process. Some of our basic principles and structure are based on the Intergroup Dialogue model.

    F.E.A.R. Project Mission

To create a space for cross-cultural dialogue on all aspects of diversity. All are encouraged to challenge their pre-conceived ideas, biases, and –isms around race, class, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, body types, and ability. Our goal is to enhance participants’ consciousness about the experiences of others as well as promoting a campus climate that values diversity, difference, inclusion, and social justice issues. We hope to challenge you to continue to think about how we all can combat oppression and use our own privileges to promote change.

When does the F.E.A.R. Project meet?

We meet every Tuesday in the MacCracken Meeting Room from 6-8 p.m.

Why call it the F.E.A.R. Project?

Good question! We wanted to be honest about what we are doing. Many people express fear when it comes to talking about or having those “difficult conversations” about diversity, specifically around race, class, sexual orientation, religion, etc. Fear, therefore, inhibits people from engaging in these important conversations, thus preventing people from sharing their own story and learning from others. Our goal for this project is not to inspire fear, but to Focus on Ever Active Resistance to: fighting oppression, having an open and honest dialogue, and acknowledging that we still have a lot of social and personal changes to make on diversity issues.
