    Harm Reduction Therapy Group

Harm Reduction is defined as reducing any damage caused by alcohol or other drug (AOD) use to the user, the user’s friends, the user’s family, and the user’s community. For some students, the healthiest relationship with Alcohol and other drugs, or the best way to reduce harm, is not to use them at all. We will help you negotiate the complexity of quitting, if that is what you choose to do. For others, it means avoiding or reducing harm by setting limits and making educated and safer choices in the way they use their drug of choice. Together in the harm reduction therapy group we will unwrap the multitude of meanings that substance use plays in the student’s life.

    Mastering Your Moods Group

Students will explore stress management skills, relaxation and self-care skills, and cognitive skills to address and decrease negative thinking. Students will also learn practical strategies to decrease anxiety and improve relationships. In brief four session modules, this group will cover concrete skills for organization, techniques for identifying and interrupting negative/unproductive thoughts, and skills for developing healthier attitudes and relationships. Each group session will include a relaxation exercise that students will be able to practice and use beyond the group.
