Forging New Visions: Teaching the Visual Arts at Sarah Lawrence College, the inaugural exhibit in the Barbara Walters Gallery of the new Monika A. and Charles A. Heimbold, Jr. Visual Arts Center, highlights just some of the many distinguished artists who have taught at the College. Curated by Nancy Spector ’81, curator of contemporary art at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the show will feature works by Marcia Hafif, Angelo Ippolito, Seymour Lipton, Mary Miss, Richard Pousette-Dart, Theodore Roszak, David Smith and Bradley Walker. “Forging New Visions is part of a yearlong, three-part exhibition program that will commemorate Sarah Lawrence’s history as a catalyst for aesthetic discovery,” says Spector. “The trilogy of shows examines the past, present and future of the school’s visual art programs, with the first two presentations focusing on previous and current faculty, respectively, and the third on remarkable student work.”

Forging New Visions will run in the Barbara Walters Gallery from November 4 through December 17. For more information, contact the Office of College Events at (914) 395-2412.
