Congratulations
to Dalia Sofer MFA ’02 and Peter Trachtenberg ’74, who received the 2007 Whiting Writers’ Award—and $50,000 prizes—for their recent books.
Trachtenberg’s Seven Tattoos: A Memoir in the Flesh (Crown, 1997) and Sofer’s The Septembers of Shiraz (Ecco, 2007), a semi-autobiographical novel about post-revolutionary Iran, were honored for nonfiction and fiction, respectively.
The Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation awards the prize annually to 10 “emerging writers of exceptional talent and promise.”
