    It's Bates!

Bates is a Sarah Lawrence original: a superhero of a building that has housed not just offices and classrooms, but everything from maids’ quarters to dining halls to laboratories to arts facilities—even a pint-sized gymnasium. Over the years, programs in science, visual arts and phys ed have grown so robust that they’ve spilled over elsewhere on the campus, finally needing three spanking-new buildings all to themselves. In 2004-05, Bates, ever at the ready, will get a tune-up and take off once more, this time reshaped as a space for student activities, faculty offices and classrooms—and, of course, the dining room.
