    Application Deadlines

    Application Deadlines vary by program, depending on semester of entry.

    For Fall 2013 Entry

    MSEd, Teaching
    Preferential deadline March 1, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MA, Health Advocacy
    Preferential deadline February 1, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MFA, Writing
    Preferential deadline Jan 15, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MA, Women's History
    Preferential deadline March 1, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MA/JD, Women's History & Law
    Preferential deadline March 1, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MS, Dance/Movement Therapy
    Preferential deadline March 1, applications accepted on a rolling basis thereafter.

    MFA, Dance
    Application deadline is January 1.

    MFA, Theatre
    Application deadline is January 1.

    MA, Child Development
    Application deadline is February 1.

    MA/MSW, Child Development &Social Work
    Application deadline is February 1.

    MS, Human Genetics
    Application deadline is January 15.

    Application Requirements

    Items required for a complete application include:

    • Completed online application, with essay (submit online)
    • 2 letters of recommendation (submit via mail)
    • Official transcripts (one copy only) from all colleges and universities attended (submit via mail)
    • A $60 non-refundable application fee (submit via mail)
    • Any additional elements required by your specific program (these are outlined on the Apply page in each program site).

    The Application Process

    Complete the online application form, inclusive of the essay, that applies to your program of interest. Or, you may choose to download, print and mail an application. Online applications are preferred.

    Applicants must arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office. These should be requested of people competent to assess your ability and promise for graduate study. If you are unable to contact former teachers, letters from employers of volunteer or paid jobs who are capable of making a similar assessment will be welcome. Recommendations are accepted in two formats: a) In the format of a letter drafted on the letterhead of the reference OR b) In the format of a completed recommendation form, available here.

    It is the applicant's responsibility to see that official transcripts (one copy only) from all colleges and universities attended are sent directly from each school to the Graduate Studies Office (have them specify program on envelope).

    Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are not required for admission to Sarah Lawrence. Any additional material that represents your ability to pursue graduate study is welcome.

    Unfortunately, we are unable to review incomplete applications. Applications are reviewed once all required materials have been received.

    Interviews

    For all programs except Writing and Women's History, an interview is an important part of the application process and will be arranged by invitation after all materials have been reviewed. If travel to Sarah Lawrence would is not possible, alternatives may be arranged. However, all applicants are encouraged to visit the campus and learn about the Sarah Lawrence program. To arrange a visit, candidates may contact Graduate Studies at (914) 395-2371. Tours of the entire campus are given Monday through Friday at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and on Saturdays from October 1 through December 15 at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.
