    José Manuel Prieto

    PhD, Universidad Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). Born in Havana, Cuba. Author of several works of fiction and nonfiction, including the internationally acclaimed Nocturnal Butterflies of the Russian Empire, Rex, and Encyclopedia of a Life in Russia; essays published in numerous publications, including The New York Review of Books, The Nation, The Paris Review. He has been a Fellow at The New York Public Library's Center for Scholars and Writers, was the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, and has taught as a visiting professor at Cornell University and Princeton University, as well as at Sarah Lawrence.
